Today our world completely changed.
Today, ignorance prevailed over common sense. In yoga we call ignorance Avidya: ignorance of what really matters. Ignorance equals tyranny, fear and entitlement. Ignorance is the source of all darkness.
Ignorance can kill.
Unveiling ignorance is a privilege. We should actually feel grateful truth is finally coming out. The truth is that our Shadow is present in full view. Not easy to swallow: in a way, the world we have known ended today. Those of us who believe light is stronger than darkness have a bigger motivation to pursue what is valuable in this lifetime. Gone are the days of denial: politics is showing us straight in our face there is something really wrong with this predicament we have all created.
In my personal life i´ve had many crisis and i know i have come out stronger and wiser from each one of them. It is through deep crisis that we learn to love deeply. That we appreciate the bottom of our hearts, human mixture of light and darkness. It is through the crisis that we find our connection is the only place to turn and understand this paradox. When everything gets dark outside we have the perfect opportunity to go within and integrate.
This crisis is the best thing that could happen to all the spiritual searchers. Now we need to get serious and ask ourselves if our actions are matching our beliefs. Because there is definitely an external force that doesn´t want us to thrive, that wants to kill every drop of faith and love and it´s ready to strike.
Today. Now.
This political crisis matches our long denied inner crisis. Are we in denial of our Shadow? Where have we felt short aknowledging our own darkness? Where are we compromising? Where are we being cowards instead of fearless? Fearlessness is the capacity to observe fear right in the face and stay. Where are we fantasizing to run? I live in Costa Rica but i feel the same sadness that my friends in the US. There is nowhere to go. We need to find the courage and support withing to stay with this pain and go deeper, to love despite the craziness. Only through our love our planet will breathe.
Only through our awareness our children will survive.
I sit in my living room and i think of my future grandchild. What kind of world is he going to inherit? What can i do to create space for his dreams? How can i be more loyal to mine, less attached to outcomes and just give it all despite the risk? As i prepare my classes for the next weekend and my southamerican tour in a few days, i know i am ready to do whatever i can, somehow meditating my way through this chaos. Love is the only answer. If a blind man can´t see it, that only means he is blind. Those of us who know Love is the only reality will never give up our vision nor abandon our brothers and sisters.
We will never give up.
I travel in a few days to meet new sensible, caring people, to share with them just like many friends and teachers i love and respect are doing right now. Dark times require furious, intense and absolute commitment. Those of us who are convinced there is no other way: we are ready to love more. All the way and never ever get tired. No matter how hard, no matter how many sacrifices we will encounter.
Love requires unlimited faith and hope is our only salvation right now.
